In a very tight division, the First Team squeezed home by just 2 points after a nervous 2-2 draw at home to runners-up AFC Heron Reserves in their final game, when goals from Al Mayman and Phil Thompson salvaged a point. In the end they finished just 7 points ahead of the team in 8th place.

A ten-match winning streak in March and April 2006 was enough to bring the title to Pirton. The team was involved in a number of high-scoring matches - including 16 matches through the season where seven or more goals were scored, but in the end their record of 18 wins was the best in the division.

In the end, only 2 matches in February 1998 spoiled a perfect league season: a 2-2 home draw with Mary Seacole and a 4-1 defeat to Icknield Rangers. One Nation did manage a 5-3 win over us in the Challenge Cup and there was a surprise 4-3 extra time defeat to Division 2 Windsor Castle in the TT Trophy, but otherwise the team swept all before them.

* Points from Sandy Albion vs. Lea Sports were awarded to Lea Sports Stopsley.

The Championship looked lost when the league docked us 2 points for not fulfilling an away fixture vs. Sandy Albion on Good Friday, but we successfully appealed to the Bedfordshire FA that the league had not given us sufficient notice of the fixture and they ruled that the game should be replayed. By the time this decision was made, we were well into May and Sandy refused to play the game, conceding the points to Lea Sports. There was also insufficient time to arrange play-offs to decide the title, so it was split four ways and the league had to buy four sets of medals!

Lea Sports only lost 2 league games all season, one of which was a conceded game to Two Brewers after fixture congestion at the end of the season (the team also reached the Invitation Cup final, where they lost to Chalton Strollers). The other defeat was to Icknield Rangers, whom they had earlier beaten 10-1! There were no league defeats after Christmas and the league was effectively wrapped up in December when challengers Luton Rangers were walloped 6-0.

Much of the same team were to reach the Invitation Cup Final the following year, pictured here is that Cup Final team:

The only defeat was in the final fixture at home to Ampthill: despite leading 5-1 at one point, the thought of the champagne went to the boys' heads and they lost an amazing game 6-5. The only other team to come close were Leighton Utd. who snatched a 1-1 draw in Pirton in November 1999. Ben L'Honoré had  a great season up front, scoring 51 goals in 30 games.

Two years later the same team reached the final of the Royston Crow Under 16 League Cup Final (losing on penalties to Stevenage Borough).

In the season when they reached the Final of the Bedfordshire Centenary Cup (losing to Rising Sun Potton on sudden-death penalties) and the Semi-Final of the Luton News Cup (losing 1-0 to Britannia), the Reserves were never in trouble in the League and won 16 of their 20 matches. They lost twice to runners-up Houghton Town Res. and once to Swan Rangers, although winning the return 4-0, when Al Mayman scored his 100th goal for the Club.

10. Under Eleven Team - 2004-05

      Chiltern Youth League Division 3

Phil Cook's Under 11 team proved far too strong for Division 3 as they walked the title. They also made it through to the semi-finals of the Hertfordshire County Cup, where they narrowly lost to Letchworth Garden City Eagles, 2-4 after extra time. The only league defeat came in April 2005 in the final game when, with the league already won, a weakened side went down 2-3 to Markyate. Striker Connor Smith scored 51 of the team's 109 goals in all competitions to take the Club's Golden Boot award.

The Under Elevens were playing their first season of 11-a-side football, after the merger the previous summer between Lea Sports Pirton and Shillington & Gravenhurst Utd. They were always on top of Division 2, although after two defeats late in the season they needed a draw from their final game vs. Bromham to secure the title.

14. Under Seventeens - 2010-11

      Chiltern Youth League Division 2

The Under Seventeens were a class apart from the other sides in Division 2. The division started out with 8 teams and ended with just 7 when Houghton Athletic withdrew. The teams played each other 3 times and it was not until the third encounter with Shefford Saints in May 2011 that the team suffered a league defeat.

15. Saturday First XI - 2010-11

      Bedfordshire County League Division 2

The Saturday team joined the Club from Brache Sparta Community and proved their credentials as they finished 14 points clear of the runners-up in a tough division. In all, they dropped just 9 points in 26 games and only Lidlington managed to score more than one goal in a league game in Pirton. On May 13th the team completed the double when they lifted the Bedfordshire Junior Challenge Cup, defeating Pavenham 2-1 in the Final.

16. Under 18 Firesharks - 2012-13

Royston Crow Youth League Division 1

The Firesharks had joined the Club at the start of the season from Wymondley and, as an Under 17 team, hoped to finish mid-table in the Under 18 division. Not only did they win the league, but were semi-finalists in the Hertfordshire Under 18 cup, losing 3-2 to the eventual Winners Codicote. Managers Denise Miley and Karen French were also nominated in the Sports Coach of the Year Category for the annual Hitchin Comet awards.

17. Under Tens - 2012-13

      Bedfordshire Mini-Soccer League Division 3

The Under Tens' season was disrupted by a harsh winter which saw many games postponed. In the end the league was to be decided by the final round of games on May 19th 2013. The Under 10s were away to third-placed Dunstable Town Whites, who themselves could claim the Championship if they were to win their last 2 games. One point behind Lea Sports going into the final game were Maulden Magpies, who were at home to fourth-placed Mid-Beds Tigers.

Things started badly in the final matches with Maulden taking an early lead and Lea Sports going 2-0 down within a few minutes of kick-off. A mini fight back in the first half saw the Under Tens turn around with a 3-2 deficit to recover. In a thrilling second half they were to snatch an equaliser and then a dramatic winner with just minutes to go - a 4-3 win and the Championship.

18. Under 18 Firesharks - 2013-14

Royston Crow Youth League Division 1

Managers Denise Miley and Karen French continued their dominance in the Crow Under 18 Division 1 by retaining the Championship at a canter. No other team came close and they only lost a league game long after the Championship was secure. Their only regret in a great season was that they again fell at the semi-final stage of the Hertfordshire County Cup, 5-3 after extra time in a great semi-final.

19. Saturday Reserves - 2021-22

        Bedfordshire County League Division 4

This was a bit of a strange season for the Saturday Reserves under Manager Ian Bromham. It turned out that the first 3 league matches were against the other two teams in the title race - and we lost 2 of those with heavy defeats against Kempston Rovers. After those 3 matches the team went unbeaten in the league until April, when the return match with rivals Clapham brought a 2-0 home defeat.  The Championship was due to be decided in the last 2 games, but the opposition in both (Bedford Santos and Flitwick Town 'A') failed to field a team, so the title was secured without kicking a ball. The campaign included 2 nervous 1-0 wins against bottom side Catsbrook Wanderers!
